Who is Lisa Molle Troyer?

Education and training
After graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Linguistics and a minor in French from Pomona College, I went on to earn a Master's in Translation and Interpretation (MATI) from the Monterey Institute of International Studies. In addition to the diploma for coursework, the school also offers a set of professional exams (something like the bar exam for lawyers), which I successfully passed in both translation and interpreting.

Recent continuing education has included a four-day professional course in perfumery techniques and the language of scent from Cinquième Sens in Paris.

Professional certification
I'm an officially Certified Translator of the American Translators Association, a designation that requires a combination of work experience and education before passing a peer-reviewed exam. I am also currently a pre-candidate with AIIC, the worldwide association of professional conference interpreters.

Experience in the field
As a professional translator, I've been involved in just about every side of the business: translating in-house as well as independently for agencies and direct clients, forming teams (like Gobo) to manage larger-scale projects and joining teams to help my colleagues take them on. I've also interpreted for a wide range of clients, from the US Department of State to multinational firms and international conferences. See my resume for more details.

Everyday life
I've spent time variously living and working in Canada, Switzerland and most recently France, which gives me a solid understanding of how to translate those cultures into English.
